TUDa Open Campus – Day of Science

On Sunday, 25.05.2025, the CCPS Laboratory was also present at the Open Campus Day of TU Darmstadt

What a great day at the Technische Universität Darmstadt . . .

We had lots of visitors, many interesting questions, and inspiring conversations — from robotics and control enthusiasts to curious kids. Sometimes you can have the most advanced scientific demonstrations, but all it really takes is giving a child a remote control and a robot. The smiles that follow are worth more than a thousand technical explanations.

We had presentations related how Large Language Models (LLMs) and Vision-Language Models (VLMs) can be integrated with Model Predictive Control (MPC) for safe path planning — and how the resulting data can be used to refine the models in return. Furthermore we presented our work on wearable robotics and exoskeletons, where we use Bayesian optimization and optimization-based planning to learn personalized, optimal controllers and parameters and beyond.

Events like this are ideal for outreach and for building a bridge between Universities as well as Research in general and the community and society. After all, the curious kids of today are the students and researchers of tomorrow!!

Many thanks to all who made this event possible.
